Basic Education:HDI sensitizes the media and the members of monitoring team on Action Plan

Human Development Initiative, HDI, a non-government and not profit making organisation, in championing of better life for the people and good  basic education for children in Nigeria for many years, on Monday, 23rd,July, 2018 in collaboration with  MacAthur Foundation Utilization of UBE Funds Project in Lagos State organised a Media and CSOs Round-table dialogue on Basic Education Projects in the Lagos SUBEB Year 2016 Action Plan.

The workshop and press parley that held at her Lagos office was aimed to sensitize the media and the members of  monitoring team the basic importance of SUBEB Year 2016 Action Plan.

While speaking at the parley, The Executive Director of HDI, Dr. Mrs Olufunso  Owasanoye, said the major reason of holding the media parley is to educate both the journalists and the members of  monitoring teams the importance of Action Plan and its effect on our education. She also  said that every child has a right for quality basic education at least till JSS 3, for such a child to know how to read and write for proper communication.

Dr Owasanoye,  said for years, HID has been a supporter and advocate of human development and basic education in Nigeria by advocating for accountability and good governance in Nigeria.

She said further that the project is targeted at ensuring that education goods and services get delivered to schools and HDI is currently monitoring nine local government in Lagos State. The local government are: Agege, Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Amuwo-Odofin, Apapa, Ibeju-Lekki, Mushin, Ojo, Somolu and Surulere

She however, enjoined the media for adequate report and monitoring of SUBEB projects in Lagos, because, media is a key stakeholder in monitoring UBEC projects’ I want to employ the media to also assist us in monitoring  SUBEB activities in their respective areas, don’t leave for it us alone, its our collective responsibility’. She noted.

After  the CEO’s speech, a senior staff of HDI, Mr. Johnson Ibidapo, speaks extensively on the project. the need for media collaboration, media component of the project and conceptualizing the action plan.

However, Mrs Bolanle Dare, another senior staff, did a quick  overview of  contents of the 2016 LSUBEB Action Plan.
