Buruj Sports Academy recorded a hard fought 2-1 win over Kings College Football Team on Wednesday evening in another friendly game as part of their trial games ahead of the final list of players for their upcoming European tour.
The highly entertaining game saw the school boys in the Island race to an early lead in the first half before Adeyanju Ridwan restored parity after beating an offside trap. The match was heading to a draw before the same player provided the assist for Barry who latched onto the fine cross to score the winner in the dying minutes.
And while reacting on the outcome of the match, Buruj Sports Academy’s Head Coach, Ishola Shuaibu, expressed delight that his boys bounced back from their heavy defeat they suffered in the hand of BOX to BOS FC in their last game but was quick to add that more work still need to be done before he can give most of the players the nod to make the squad.
“It was a good game against a very young but enterprising side school team. It’s heartwarming that we eventually won the game but I expected more coordination and purposeful play from my boys. ”
“The management want to raise a strong team for the defense of English Super Cup as well as Spanish Cup. We are still planning for Welsh Super Cup. So, it is a serious business and only players who can show readiness in these preparatory games will be considered. That’s why we are giving new players chance to come forward, register and train with us,” he submitted.
